I was at CompUSA ready to pick up a set of Sennheiser HD202 yesterday when I decided to try it before i bought it. Well I secretly opened the package and put them on my head to figure out to my dismay that they didn't cover my ears. The little pads were too small to be fully circumaural which is really disappointing because I wanted circumaural headphones. So I put them back when I saw the UR-29s sitting there on the shelf. They were closed and when I tried them on they WERE fully circumaural and fit my ears. I remember that these were suppose to be upgraded UR-30s so maybe they'd be good. But before I buy it I'm wondering if this is a good choice in headphones and if dealing with the 202's non circumauralness with the advantage of "better sound" is a better choice. HEre are the stats for the UR-29s

Frequency Response: 18-20,000 Hz
High fidelity stereophone utilizes an anisotropic magnet and 1.4 mil mylar element for deep bass and treble clarity
Closed leatherette ear cushion for maximum isolation and deep bass
Built for maximum durability for DJ and recording use
Collapsible design for protective storage and maximum portability when listening on the go
Straight, single entry 8 foot cord.

I'm looking for $30 closed heaphones so the UR40's are out of the question considering they leak noise.

Is the sound that bad or something? I'm planning to use this on my computer sound card (Santa Cruz) so it's not going to be the perfect audiophile setup.

I'll go check out the Philips today and see what I think.

I bought them last week for 50$ CAD. They are robustly made but rather heavy (400 g). Comfort was a major issue since they hurt my head after <1 hour of listening.

Moreover, I thought they sound too "normal" (not neutral). I like to hear details on cello strings but they seem to blur it.

I don't recall every detail because I kept them for only a few hours.

Just my opinion.

I heard a friend's UR-20's at band camp and did not like them. They were comfortable all right, but they were almost TOO big. Also, they were VERY tinny and I did not fine their sound or bass pleasing. Went back to my KSC-50's.
