My first real audio diy project other than some audio tweaks (capacitor upgrades, etc) was to build a PPA. Yeah I suppose I should have started with a CMOY but I have decent soldering skills. Anyway, the build was fun until it didn't quite work right
It is being diagnosed as we speak by someone who actually knows what they are doing
. In the mean time I decided to build a Mint. I was a bit worried about soldering the SMD chips but it turns out it was real easy. After an evening of careful soldering I am rewarded with a working amp!!
This is the only pic I took so far. It currently has all of the i/o, power & switch connected (sounds great so far). I managed to cram it all in an Altoids tin w/ 2-9v batteries but then I realized I forgot the switch. It a sacrificial tin I'm using just to experiment with spacing anyway. I will cut the board in half soon so that it will all fit in properly. Now I have something to play with while I patiently wait for my PPA to get repaired
