homesick for space just released a new album called "unison" and this release is definitely going on my top five of the year. think radiohead before they started to suck, think sigur ros gloom but not quite as abstract, add a touch of travis and you have an incredible band called homesick for space.

this band is local to new york city and i've been able to catch a couple of their live shows. to say that they are a great band is an understatement. i have been following them for a couple of years now, and their debut 5-song ep is rather incredible as well. the songs are less focused and more lengthy, but nothing short of beautiful.

these two tracks are on their webpage: http://www.homesickforspace.com/ but i find it easiest to link directly to them. download them and give them a try if you're into something new and not riaa-infested.

their new album is a bit expensive at amazon and insound, so i ordered it from bn: http://music.barnesandnoble.com/sear...n=780163373226

their old 5-song ep (which they never seem to play live) can be gotten from immigrantsun.com for $6 plus shipping.

Kinda thought Radiohead finally just got interesting, but I'll give Space a shot. Thanks for the suggestion.

found another song link. this is to a track from that 5-song ep on immigrant sun and actually one of my favorites. to grab it you need the referral, so just goto this page and download from the link for the track "close to perfect":

a word on recording quality: i find "unison" to be of fairly decent quality. i'm guessing a digital master, but it's not compressed to **** or anything and sounds really great compared to most of today's recordings. it's not quite elephant-quality but it's up there.

grinch, when in your opinion did radiohead start to suck? I'm not enthralled with the new album, it has it's moments but overall not their best stuff. I'll definitely check out your suggestion, they sound like my kind of band.

I gave those MP3s a listen and they sounded pretty interesting. Any idea where I can pick up the LP?

i gave a link to the cheapest price i could find online in the first post: http://music.barnesandnoble.com/sear...n=780163373226

locally, i am unsure. you'd need to find a decent indie joint that sells records from independent labels. some places in the village would surely have it, but beyond that i really don't know.

my local best buy and fye don't have it. at this point, i think bn.com is the best place to get a copy.

thanks grinch, I'd found a few places that have the CD, but when I visited their site I saw this "We also have some new reviews up of the new LP " and (unless I'm dense as crap) I figured that meant they had it released on vinyl which is what I'm hoping to track down.
