Holo Audio Red Streamer

How do I use the Red as a DDC from my streamer? I connected the streamer to the Red with HDMI out and then the red to my Dac with usb out but I am getting no sound.
The DDC is only working with an USB in, like (IMHO) all...
Why do you want to use the I2S (or do you really mean HDMI out) from your streamer? Isn't there any USB outs?

I believe you have it backwards; it should be usb out from your streamer into your Red, then hdmi out from your Red into your dac.

I realized that the HDMI can only be used an output not input. I switched to optical out and usb in but still not luck yet.

I just reflashed the SD card with fresh firmware. I am using a Mac if that makes a difference. The Mac is recognising the Red as one of the output devices but I am not getting any sound out of my dac/amp connection. I am not seeing the Red is an available device through Airplay.

As DDC the RED doesn't uses the SD card and so it's safe to put it out.

I don't believe you'll see the Red in Airplay, as Airplay is for over the network streaming. Since you're using the Red as a DDC, you need to set your Mac's output in the Audio Midi to use the Red. Applications/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup.

Did that and connected the Red to my DAC via coax cable and then dac to amp via rca and nothing still.

Okay, so you've got:

Mac > USB > Red > Coax > DAC > RCA > Amplifier

Things to check:

- Is the volume muted on the Mac?
- Is the input selector on the DAC set to accept the coax signal?
- Does the DAC have volume control?...is it muted?
Volume on both dac and mac is not muted. There is no volume control on the DAC. The DAC accepts COAX but I will test it because perhaps that is the issue.

I have also tried this chain Eversolo DMP A6 > USB > Red > Coax > DAC > RCA > Amplifier to no avail as well even though the Everolo also recognizes the Red as a valid output device.

Hmm...almost seems like a setting on the Red. I don't actually own one, so I can't help there, but it's odd that you can't get any output even with 2 different sources.

I don't see an I2S input on your 2 Dacs if they are the ones in your signature.
If you don't have a Dac that supports it, it won't work.
If you do, you need to know the pinout of the Dac and set it on the Red.
Have a look at the bottom of your Red and then check the manual for different pinout options.
If your Dacs do not have an I2S port, you have to use Spidif.
For Coax 2 you need a cable with BNC connector and the other end Rca coax connector if you want to connect the 2nd Dac to it.
And if necessary, select the coax source on the Dac using a switch or menu control.
