Where did you read that the Holo Streamer no longer supports Roon ? Has anyone confirmed this? It sounds hard to believe. The Kitsube website still notes Roon as compatible.

On the Magnahifi sales page, Roon Bridge has disappeared from the Software screen and specifications

Well Roon has become so problematic anyway so it’s better SQ wise to move to something different as was already mentioned here. The RED is such a highly flexible device and supports a broad range of software toolsets. Having had iFi ZEN Stream with iFi Elite or U2 Mini with Farad Super3 the RED with a good power cord performs excellent - I would recommend HQPlayer NAA mode as this is highly optimized and further offers convolution filters as well as the best upsampling quality.

Roon doesn't even sound as good as LMS or anything MPD-based... or literally any other player. I can see a lot of people having their day ruined over it though. I'm curious whether support has been removed from the software tho. I'm not running their OS, nor am I willing to fire it up and upgrade, risking losing functionality, over a small curiosity.

Support has not been removed from the previous Red

Agree, using LMS in gentooplayer with MPD/UPNP plug in sound superb.

Hi, where do you find your best convolutions filters for HQPlayer ?

Just received my Red a couple of hours ago (was on OS 2023.09.28) and I can confirm NO Roon support.
Updated to OS 2024.01.24 - also no Roon support.

I'm just staying put on the 2023.04.15 build. I assume given my serial number prefix, I cannot upgrade higher anyway or am I incorrect?

@EMINENT
Just an FYI--The serial# on the Red configuration page is not the units serial#--as mention afterwards in two different posts, it's on both--the box as well as on the Red itself. Unfortunately, for now my Red is not compatible with this software update being the first four digits of my serial# are below 2305.

Hallo.

Intredasting.

You are correct. The web page and hardware are different.

This shall be a case where 2 is not always better than 1.

Does the lack of Roon support mean that this newer version doesn’t work with Roon at all or just that Roon is not ”officially” supported?

I have the original version but I use it as a HQP NAA bridge only.

Even if newer Red haven't include support for Roon, that don't stop us from using other FW like Ropieee, volumio, even paid one like Gentooplayer. I think it's due to Roon certification sitll underway, hardware itself is supported. Hope this clears up any doubts.

Using the current “Red OS”, the Red isn’t visible in Roon as a Roon endpoint. (HQP works and it’s seen as an NAA).

Agreed, there’s really no issue here and one can install another OS that works with Roon.
