Hi forum,

i accidently punched a hole in the paper lining of one of my Sennheiser HD565 drivers as i was trying to tighten the lossened spring because the contact was breaking up.
now i i haven´t tested them yet if they still work because i´ve ordered replacement cables from the HD650.
so is this a severe damage to the drivers and now useless i was wondering?

thx for replies!

actually, this isn´t the HD565 driver but the HD600 but its similar. holes are as indicated.
i was a bit clumsy i guess:wink:
and in fact its not the driver itself but the paper lineing around it.

Depends on whether something else was also damaged. If the driver was deformed, there can be a problem.
They'll work still, but will they sound the same is something I'm not sure of.
Try contacting Sennheiser to see what do they have to say on the issue.

Hi!

FYI, I received friend's HD580 with hairs stuck to the diaphragm and wrinkles on the dome part of the diaphragm.
Even outer part of the driver's diaphragm was full of tiny valleys that don't belong there...
I was able to carefully restore originl shape using adhesive VHS sticker.

Just worth trying that in case of deformed diaphragm...

Thx for the Info!
Can i also use Sellotape (Scotch Tape) to fix these holes?
Didn´t know the paper lining was called Diaphragm.

The bottom hole is not a problem. There is nothing under there. The top one, depends on if you went through the driver too. If so, it'll likely sound bad. Just try, you won't break anything.
