Hello,

This my first post so please don't judge, anyway, recently i have been on the lookout for some headphones to listen to the hip-hop/rap genre, however I cannot decide on what to get for my budget of $200 ($250 AUD) I am willing to go over a bit by $20-50 if that is the case. I am a basshead and like a heavy thumping bass. I plan to use these on the bus so good noise isolation and portability would be nice that means no amps.

Kind of music I am listening to:

Options I have Considered

Audio Technica ATH-M50x

Audio Technica ATH-PRO700Mk2

Beyerdynamic Custom one pro/DT770

M-Audio Studiophile Q40

Thank you in advance

+1 on the m100 or the JVC HA SZ1000. If they don't fit in your budget, you may want to look at a used m100 on ebay or another board. There are usually a number out there for sale. Good luck!

I find the bass on the M50x to nice and punchy, although there are definitely cans out there with even more thump. The M50x works pretty well without an amp imo and it's easy to haul around as it folds up and comes with a carrying pouch. I like the DT770 as well, but it doesn't fold up so might be less suited for use on the bus. Personally between the two I usually bring the M50x for portable use.
