Can anyone recomend a high end recording of music containing the sitar?

Something that is maybe in the electronica, star streams, or any genre for that matter.

Thievery Corporation - Labenese Blond from The Mirror Conspiracy has a good sitar line in it, but the reset of the CD doesn't

The Ananda Shankar Experience & State of Bengal - Walking On...try that, there's also Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar etc...or even Mychael Danna he does some really good music

Any interest in Indian classical music -- i.e. ragas -- by master Sitar players, or are you interested in world-fusion type music?

If you're looking for electro-fusion with sitar, then you should take a look at Al Gromer Khan, in particular his albums Space Hotel and Black Marble and Sweet Fire. Khan is not a masterly sitarist, indeed he keeps his sitar playing slow and simple; but he is a wonderful creater of electronic sound atmospheres.

Anoushka Shankar's album Rise is an electro-fusion project. How good it is I don't know, but she is a technically assured sitar player judging from her more traditional recordings.
