Hey there, i just bought the full quality version of David Chesky's album which is 8467kbps, 24bit, 176k samplerate and when i check it in iTunes to transfer it to my ipod classic or iphone4 nothing happens. Or well, it adds 0,03gb to the audio but the actual music doesnt appear on the ipod. Anyone experienced this or know how to fix it?

I believe the song is in the format of flac. Just listening to it on your laptop with a good amp/dac. That's the only thing u can do.

Check out the link in my signature :)

I'm not too sure about home systems... but portable systems, I don't think I could detect any noticeable difference using the same album encoded to 16 and 24 bits respectively.

Thanks for all the replies. The file format i wave sound, so it can be used by apple products, and the difference between 16 and 24 bit can actually be heard, but mostly when I'm using my speakers (Concert size) or when using my custom iem's out of the amp that i use for my speakers.
But i guess 16 bit will suffice for portable use :)

Yes they do, I've been using WAV as my main file format for the last 6 years I've had my ipods.

Strange, my iphone does a heck of a good job to my taste, and gives the advantage of being able to bypass the internal amp with a LOD cable...
It sucks that you HTC broke though, the older HTCs I've owned before seemed extremely sturdy.
