Okay, I'm new to a lot of the tech discussions, so please bear w/ me...
Two things:
*1*
I absolutely love my new AKG K240M's. However, I'm considering taking them back for the 240S's, because those have a much lower impedance. The 240M's have an impedance of 600 ohms. So, here's my question:
Is it good to have high impedance for critical mixing/production? I mean, these are giving me the crispest, smoothest sound, with the tightest bass I've ever heard! Perhaps this is *because* of the high impedence....I mean, why else would they continue to make this model for twenty years??!
If the 240S's change anything besides volume, then I'll stick with what I have. I don't want that tight bass to change at all! (not interested in an amp)
*2*
New discovery: Listening through my MOTU 828 I/O (which has a nice D/A converter) blows away the sound of my Onkyo receiver! Now I see what everyone is talking about (good D/A, headphone amps vs. receiver headphone outs)....Wow....
