Hi all,

I currently run an Aurender n100h->Mcintosh D100->ALO Studio Six->Audeze LCD-3's. I use viard/Isotek/voodoo/ALO cables.

I am thinking of upgrading my DAC to either a Calyx Femto M or PS Audio Directstream DAC very soon.

My question is, do you think I am going to be limiting the benefits of moving into the next tier of DACs by using a headphone setup?

In a speaker setup, it seems the sky's the limit in terms of scaling up speakers to source equipment. For headphones, there are only a handful of high end cans, and some makers go on to say that their headphones sound like $xx,xxx speakers, etc. Is there a limit to where higher end source equipment's performance is going to be limited by the headphone choices available?

Or in other words, are higher end DACs like the Calyx, PS audio, MSB, etc overkill for a headphone rig?

Hope this question makes sense, and apologies if it's too intuitive to you!

Andrew
