Not really, one or two years limited warranty seems to be the norm. Not sure of every vendors' warranties though.

I got 4 year warranty for the CX500 costing 25$ at Memory Express. If you live in Canada you can also do the price match to get lowest price.

Toughnut has a point. Published warranties are what they are, but many times companies go beyond the warranty and take care of the customer whatever timeframe has occurred. Etymotic seems to be in this category.

Not quite, its just IEMs are my portable use headphones.

I find that as a college student, there's a lot of things that just.... happen. I've lost 3 trustworthy earphones that way so I am wondering what there is that is truly able to be supported through the years without paying too much.

Hardly anything come with lifetime warranty, and certainly no high-end IEM would come with one. The portable nature dictates that it will fail eventually due to user abuse (which won't be covered by warranty anyway).

Get a high-end IEM with detachable cable instead. Or insure your belongings.
