So right now I have my Dynaudio's hooked up to my Dodge 8 preamp which runs RCA's into my Rogers/cable box. I believe the source the cable box is the culprit for diminished sound. The RCA's I'm using to hook up the cable box to the preamp are pretty high end. If I were to hook up the cable box directly to a DAC via toslink connection. Then DAC to preamp via RCA's would this type of setup greatly increase the sound quality of my audio coming from my cable box?
Also my run of the mill DVD player is a bit better sound then the cable box, but not by a big margin. Again if I were to hook up the optical out on the DVD player into the DAC, then DAC to preamp via high quality RCA's would this make a noticeable difference in the quality of sound?
Any recommendations on the type of DAC that would suit this purpose?
Cheers
