Thought some of you might enjoy this recording I made this past weekend. Put some of that high-end gear to the test!

Download STS-130_2496.wav from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

This is a 24-bit, 96-kHz file in WAV format, uncompressed.

The sound of the launch of space shuttle Endeavor on mission STS-130, over six million pounds of thrust recorded a little over 3 miles from the launch pad, next to the launch control center. The people you hear in the background are astronaut extended family members, payload and launch team, and guests of NASA administration.

Recording signal chain was AT4022 microphones > Lunatec V2 preamp > Benchmark A/D at 24/96.

Enjoy!

I thought from the title that the space shuttle had installed a sound system. I was going to bemoan the fact that it didn't bring a lot of Bose equipment into space so that the Earth could have a little less junk.
