About 6 weeks ago I purchase the HiFiMAN HM-901 for $999 with the standard amp from Amazon. A few days after, I purchased the balanced amp card from head-direct. Recently, I had to return the DAP because it wasn't holding the battery charge for longer than 2 hours. The plan was to get the DAP again from amazon as soon it was available.
 
My problem now is that Amazon doesn't have the HiFiMAN HM-901 anymore, head-direct doesn't have the $999 option any more. Now, I only have a balance amp card that I no longer can return with no DAP
 
The only place I've seen that sell the DAP with the standard card is moon-audio. Unfortunately, they sell the 901 with the standard amp for $1,199 (isn't that strange? $200 more expensive) This means that if I purchase it from them, I'll end up paying $1,499 for a DAP and balance card that only costs 1,299
 
Does anybody know where I can purchase a $999 HiFiMAN HM-901 DAP?

best to check with head-direct and see what they can do.. standard card had a faulty batch and that's why they are not selling at the moment

Having lost my 801 charger, i now vow never to buy another dap that has its own custom charger.
does the 901 come with a generic charger that can easily be replaced? Can it charge via usb?

Check stereodesk.com they seem to have it on stock and Fred will give you an extraordinary service!
But if you already have the balanced card I will better suggest get an HM901 with the iem card instead the standard.

You get more clarity, a little wider and deeper soundstage and just overall greater impact. I also find that the cable you use for the LCD-2 is important as well. I like the Whiplash, V3.
