I've been using my HE500 a lot recently, and its weight is giving me some discomfort. 
 
I am OK with the clamping force, but the top of my head get quite uncomfortable from the headband.
I am thinking about replacing with thicker pads to increase the clamping force, and to reduce the weight on the top of my head. 
 
I am thinking about Alpha Pads.  I've read good things about it, but MrSpeakers website says it is non-trivial to install onto HE500. 
I searched and couldn't find any detailed instructions about how to install Alpha Pads onto HE500s. 
 
Could someone who has done it before point me to some instructions? Preferably instructions with pictures.

Is this still good? I just got a pair of alpha pads and they sound really good if you stuff them with a little cotton, if you're interested I can show you how.

did you ever try the alpha pads?
