I am going to change out the ear cups in my Hifiman headphones and I think this will be a great time to completely eliminate the mini coaxial connection that is there now.
Mainly because I really really don't like them and I am having issues with them.
I can directly connect the cable to the drivers. This is an option and great way to go. I can connect them to the drivers, have them come down in a Y and then end in a mini 4 pin (male or female) XLR connection. From there I can make whatever cable I want to end in the opposite (male or female) mini XLR connection.
That is really the only option I see as being robust. There is my question, what other options are there for me to connect? 1/8 mini mono female connections at each ear cup?
