If you have the opportunity to test both then why not make a decision based on that? I am not trying to be a dick but what are you asking?

I hear you but the answer is still the same.... if the prices are the same then the one that sounds better to you is the better headphone

Sorry, I think one or the other of us is confused... I think he wanted advice as to which to purchase, he has an opportunity to buy them at about the same price and - I am assuming here! - he has not and cannot hear both to compare

Sorry to confuse you both. I was just asking if anyone prefers one over the other as I have the option to purchase both at around the same price.

On a side note I had a chance to test a few headphones yesterday. I did enjoy the hifiman but I don’t think my chord mojo is up to the task of powering them. I had to turn the volume up quite a lot.

I was able to try the lcd x and stax l700.

I made that mistake to trying that lcd 4z , and over the hifiman, the 4z was better to my ears, maybe not huge sound stage but that overall experience was more pleasing to my ears. Sadly the 4z are £3500 compared to £1500 for the hifiman.

I did like the stax l700 with the energiser.
it’s around £2500 for the package.

I’m still trying to find a place that has the mx4 for me to test. Ideally I can try and find a place to rest them and then make an informed decision.
