Hi,

I have a Hifiman 601 that I really enjoy. The firmware is v0.06.

It would be great if you that have experiance of the various versions could tell med the differences between them. I have read that the sound and other things can change when you uppgrade ex EQ funktions.

Whats your experience, and what version do you like best?

I am greatful for every tips I can get from you in this matter.

I went from v4 to v10 - no problems, a few more menu options I won't use, and sounds the same to me.
 
The only change is that the battery life is worse.

really? how so?
 
did you run battery tests on both firmware?

does using v4 for a year, then moving to v10 for a month and noticing about a 15% drop in battery life count as a test?

maybe.. another possibility is your battery is gradually losing its charge over the year
 
however, can't you just revert back to v4 if you like it better?

that could be the case, I am bit too scared to change it again!
 
I don't mind a short battery life, I never listen for more than 2 hrs a day to headphones.
 
For me it's "it works, leave it alone"

Menu options like what :O I just got mine as well and I'm curious about the firm ware as well, I'm also using v.04
 
Should I update str8 to v10 or v5 v6 v7 v8 ect... [I currently have v7 and v10 dwnloaded but not on my Hifiman]

I did, the only thing I wish is that I could play music from a Folder that includes sub folders. As opposed to having to go through all my layers till I hit tracks [and I tried using one track in the top layer thinking it would automatically grab the lower layers... it didn't] but I can live with only being able to listen to One artist at time or all of them! Plus there is the favorites to so no reason to update!
