What I needed was to connect an Nvidia Shield featuring audio USB output with my HEDD Type 07 Mk2 speakers, which have this weird AES input.
Here is the link to it https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32450088506.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.1d512e0eayFOrb
It is also sold under a different brand name here https://www.audiophonics.fr/fr/inte...aes-i2s-2x-tcxo-otg-24bit-192khz-p-10547.html
I was selecting between this and the famous Matrix Audio X-SPDIF 2 which is well known.
The main difference between the two is that DU-U8 features an internal power supply unit and Matrix Audio X-SPDIF 2 is supplied without it. In case of Matrix for the most part it is not required, but the DU-U8 will not funstion without external power. The maximum sample rates are different as well. Matrix also features XILINX SPARTAN FPGA which the other device does not have. Matrix is based on XMOS U208 while U8 is XMOS-XU208 (I think it is the same chip). Are they both asynchronous USB or not? I don't thing U8 is?
The price difference is three (3) times roughly.
I have tried to use Douk Audio U2 Pro which does not have an AES output and a Coax to XLR converting cable, it does work on one speaker, but as soon as you try to connect the second speaker through the pass through (diasy chain connection) the voltage difference between the coax and AES does not let the system work.
What do you think about said device? Will it work? Is it a good quality device? Have I made mistake by purchasing it?
Thanks
