Just wanted to show off my new hieutrung handcrafts headphone stand.  I was originally inspired to make my own DIY stand via the diy headphone stand thread, but I went to home depot, looked at the prices of wood, realized I don't have the tools or knowhow and decided to purchase one.  I looked at the cheap cosmos dual headphone wood stand on amazon, but some of the reviews made it sound poor quality and kind of janky.  You basically have to put it together yourself using a screwdriver and only two screws hold down the wood.  This sounded flimsy to me and I wanted better durability and finish too, which brought me to the Hieutrung stand.

The selection process:   I emailed him asking him his advice on which finish I should choose.  He offers polyurethane, tung oil and polycrylic as well as custom painted colors.  I googled about wood finishes and found a lot of conflicting opinions, I guess it's pretty subjective.  He recommended polyurethane so I took his advice.  He emailed me some pictures of 4 stands in progress and I spent about 45 minutes comparing the grain of the wood from all angles until I decided which one I liked.  Long story short, it arrived via usps prority mail well packed and included a polishing cloth that smells of craftsmanship(sawdust, varnish).

In use, the wood part the headphone band rests on is the perfect width and roundness to put zero stress or indentations on the band and my sony mdr-ma900 with cloth headband padding slides on and off super smoothly.  My alienware ultrasone headphones have pleather headband padding and don't slide but that's due to the properties of leather.  The wood finish is really beautiful and professional looking.  All the edges have been beveled and it's really solid.  I tried shaking it and prying at it but I couldn't get any part of it to creak or shift at all.  I'm using it with two headphones as you can see in the pictures and they fit perfectly.  The 2nd headphone on the back side does gets it's earpads compressed very slightly on the wooden poles but it's less than most headphone stands and I'm not concerned.

I'm super happy with it and I feel like I have a stand that looks attractive and is sturdy enough that it will never break.  Here's the web site http://www.hieutrunghandcrafts.com
