I can't say they're hidden with this many views, but they still seem underappreciated. The Veils.

RE: OP8

Hooked on this album lately... it grows on you. Except I believe there's a good amount of distortion throughout due either high recording levels or the microphone's are tapping out. Its really unfortunate.

Jay Electronica [Hip-Hop]

I can't think of anyone that surpasses him lyrically, or anyone that can make obscure but clever references the way he does.
He chooses lots of samples in a way that fits the song and the beats he chooses have never put me off. He's intelligent in a way that makes you curious what kind of life he has lived to get up to that point.

His fifteen minute album, which contains no drums or hooks and samples its beats entirely from the soundtrack of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, is one of my favorite albums across all genres

'Aegis' by Theatre of Tragedy is a pretty special one. The 2013 reissue, sounds more clear to my ears.
I started listening to Venus and Siren, then Cassandra, Lorelei and so on, at this point I enjoy most of the songs on that album. The ambiance is pretty dark, but soft and musical.

Yes - this is supposed to sound like it does - horrifically distorted. Strangely enough - the higher quality copy you can get, the clearer distortion sounds! So don't judge it on the youtube rip. It actually sounds incredible (to me).

The distortion is typical of the sub-genre called (rather stupidly imo) Witch House. Tri Angle puts out a lot of stuff in this vein (including Clams Casino). My favourite on the label is The Haxan Cloak's Excavation but Holy Other's With U and oOoOO's first EP are gems too.

Cool thread btw! I could name tons of stuff but I think this is a bit of a hidden gem and an old favourite of mine - most people knew and liked them for their 80s synth pop records, so their later work got slightly overlooked at the time:
