How does the sound compare, with vs. without the external tube buffer?

The buffer rounds things off a little and adds a little glow in the mids. It also sounds a little less clean, but it complements the RS6 much more than my other sources for some reason. It also seems to add a little brightness which the RS6 doesn't mind

Received it!! WIll share impressions on the pairing later, currently I would say the background with M9 is deadly silent!! Super impressed.

How are you finding the pairing? The IER-M7 is also a great fit as it's quite neutral, the RS6 makes it come alive.. it has me wondering how much better the M9 is..

I just found out resistor matching on the RS6 is 1/1000 - same as the Cayin RU6 dongle... The Cayin R01 has 1/10,000 variance which in theory should be superior - same as the LP6 Pro. Not sure how this translates to sound quality and if the RS6 sounds less refined compared to E01

I'm sure that plays a role but having heard both, I prefer RS6, R01 sound a lot warmer but I feel the amp is slightly more capable for harder to drive headphones.

Anyways, as a entire package, Rs6 is far more complete that N6ii R01.

Hiby most likely will release a RS6 pro the same way we had the R6 pro, etc.

Time to take things up a notch...

One of the best pairing for the Sennheiser HD800s I've heard.

The Hiby RS6 softens the treble region, removes any ringing, increases mids density, and the Woo Audio smooths things out further and increases sub bass. Essentially this combination covers all the shortcomings of the Sennheiser and makes it refined, balanced and non fatiguing

Depends on your headphones.

I would lean towards class A or Tubes, to complement the R2R tone even more towards luxury... As long as combined with neutral headphones, for me at least.
