I’m looking to upgraded my dap. I’m looking to spend around 300 or less , hiby r3/r5 , Sony aw45, shanling m2X. These are a few Im considering . Sound is number 1. I like the functionality of the hibys. I hear the Sony has a better sound fiio ? Don’t know . Thoughts opinions any suggestions please
Have you bought any of these already? If yes, I hope you saved up a bit more and bought the HiBy R5 (or, alternatively, an iBasso DX120 or 160). That should be able to give you the most headroom for future headphone upgrades + best sound quality out of all those listed, without having a short battery life. I have the Shanling M2X and while it's not really a bad player, I wish it had longer battery life and a better UX. Adjusting anything with a slider is pretty hard. The volume dial also started having problems for me after ~5 months of usage.
