Last year a lady walked up to me and waved hi to me while I was sitting outside of a coffee shop.

I don’t think it’s a big deal if nobody says hi.
The advantage of being ignored is the freedom to embarrass yourself in public. And nobody will care. It’s nice to have that freedom and many celebrities envy that.
