I'm talking like 3 inches in height, big. Which is like 7.62cm.

However, I'm looking for a headset for use on a PC for voice chat and, or just a decent pair of headphones.

My priorities are comfort (For hours of use) before sound quality. (But having both would be great.)

I'm looking for something that I can wear that will completely encircle my ears, not rest on the tips of them (which lead to pain and soreness after an hour or so).
They also need to not get hot after extensive use. If this is impossible with a closed back set of headphones, I will settle for open ears.

I wouldn't want to spend more than $100, unless it is indeed VERY much worth it. I am open to all suggestions..

Sorry if this was really badly written.. I'm quite the audio-amateur.

HD800. They will fit around any ear and they are VERY much worth it. Extreme comfort AND quality!

They're a little more than $100 though.

I just measured my Sennheiser HD518 and they are 3" vertically and around 2.8" wide so they will probably touch your ears a bit. I hear the Audio Technica AD700s are pretty roomy too.

I was looking into the AD700s too, but I can't seem to find the exact dimensions of the cups. These massive ears are a curse. ;|

On a budget Superlux has a range of very large headphones, but most are semi-open back (AKG clones).
They do have a couple of closed headphones (Beyerdynamic clones), but the earcup sizes in both cases are identical to their respective clones.

My Superlux HD681 only measures around 2.2" in diameter, unfortunately. The DT clones, HD330/HD660, were even smaller when I tried them out.

I'm looking at the Superlux HD661's and HD668B's.. They seem pretty affordable and they look pretty large.

Does anyone have the measurements on the cups though? I don't wanna buy something and find out that it doesn't fit my ears. :|

Again, my ears are 3 inches (7.62 cm) in height, and it's important to me that they are completely encompassed within the cup.

AFAIK, the HD668B has the same cup design as the HD681 so you can expect the measurements to be the same. As for the HD661, I don't recall how large cups were vertically but I did notice that they were a bit more shallow than the HD681 and HD668B.

Have you checked the AD700 thread? I'm sure someone there would gladly give you dimensions of the cup of the AD700.

I will check this out. I would've bought the AD700s but my friend told me that they used to be cheaper, and that I could find something more worth it if I'm going to spend 100 anyway.

My friend, an owner of the AD700s got back to me, he says the cups measure 2 inches in diameter. ;-;

The JayCar Pro Monitor might be a good choice, and they're $50 + $20 shipping from JayCar:

I've never used them, nor do I have the inside diameter of the ear cups, but they look massive and get awesome reviews, especially for the price. As these are a cloned model, you can get the Fischer FA-003 or Brainwavz HM5 variants, but you'll dish out another $60 or so just for the brand.

Don't know if the OP still cares, but I have these.
They're about 2.5" tall on the inside and they sound really nice.
