HFI 780 vs SRH840

Depends on what you are looking for. In my opinion the 780's are perfect for trance and bass heavy music while the 840 is more neutral. With that said, I preferred the "exciting" sound of the 780's. I guess I just prefer a "fun" can to an accurate one.

Shure is very good for the money but it's not terribly exciting. You can do the ALO mod mostly yourself- it's mostly dampening and a new cable- take you a couple of hours if you know how to tinker with headphones.

I've had them since christmas, so I've certainly given them a chance + burn-in time. I'm kind of angry too because one of the stickers on the cups fell off, so if I wanted to resell them, I'm sure that would be a problem.
