So after getting the audio technica ath-m50 I really appreciate the advice given here. But now I would love some help with an amp. I updated my gaming headset to the game zero's which I've heard great things about. I read reviews and comments here and there and a lot of them were saying that you would need an amp. So I decided to just buy the headset then if I found the sound not up to par I'd get an amp later. So here I am. I've got the headset plugged into my onboard audio (Gigabyte GA-B85-HD3 ATX LGA1150). Now music sounds fine, but they sound really flat and spacey in counter strike which is one of the biggest things i use them for. My previous usb virtual surround sound headset (Corsair vengeance 1500) sounds better in game. I've read the sub $100 dollar portable amp shootout but I'm still not sure what would be the right one. So what would you guys recommend? The most important thing to me is sound in Counter Strike. I really want to make this headset work because everything else about them is fantastic. I've read this headset has a really high resistance, like 150? So I guess that's why they sound bad on my onboard. Now just another two things I want to add/ask.
1. The game zero's have a seperate mic and audio plug. So as you can see that would be a little issue if i want to plug them into an amp right? For the mic plug to reach the back of my pc the amp would have to hang off the backside of my pc right? So then are there amps with a mic and audio plug?
2. I also have speakers that I use when I'm not gaming. Right now I am using one of these adapters (http://imgur.com/8Pgg9RJ) to get my speakers and headphones plugged in. My front panel jacks don't work, which seems to be a known issue with the fractal r4 case. Now how would that work with an amp? If the amp has to audio outputs I could plug my speakers and headphones into them. Otherwise I would have to plug in the amp into one of the splits and my speakers into the other split. Would this negatively affect things? Or actually could I plug the amp in first then plug the adapter into the amp if the amp doesn't have two audio outputs?
Thanks very very much for any help, and taking your time to read all this. I appreciate it.
