OK, here's the deal:

I wanted to transfer some files from my old computer to my new one using the data storage feature on my Zen Micro. I turned the player on, plugged it into the USB port, and it immediately shut off. When I tried to turn it back on, it showed the first two images (the Creative inc copyright thing, and then just the one that says 'Creative'), then it got stuck on that and the contrast faded out to the point where you couldn't even read it. I took the battery out and the same thing happened when I put it back in. I did it again and tried to do the recovery thing but that menu faded out, too, and the touchpad wouldn't respond. I felt the Micro starting to get warm so I took it out again and just let it rest for several minutes. Now, it just won't turn on at all.

Can anyone help, or is my Micro a dead duck?

I'm not a micro expert, but have you tried a new battery?

what cable did you use to plug it in, the stock creative one or one that you owned before that?

the battery might be dead and needs charging. just use the wall charger for a minute or two before turning it on and see if that works. it wont turn on the moment you plug it in, guess it needs some time to charge a little first

i also bought my zen micro from j&r last december. i just sent it back to creative for replacement. the unit started heating up so i took the battery out. got home, charged it and it won't charge anymore. tried turning it on with the ac adapter, still no go.

j&r only accepts replacements/returns for 14 days. after that, the manufacturer's warranty will handle your claim. unless, of course, if you purchased the extended warranty for the product.

What do you mean, like trying to fix it yourself?
