Hello,

Next month, I'll buy my new pc:

Core i7 920
ASUS P6T
HD5870
6GB DDR3 1600 Corsair
PSU OCZ 700W
1 TB WD
Coolermaster Gladiator
Coolermaster Hyper 212

And I'd like to put to good use my MS1i/DT770 80 ohms/LD MKIV (just ordered), which means FLAC. But, that begs the question, which soundcard do I need to buy (keep in mind, I'd rather have a better sound for music than for games) and do I need to buy a DAC?

Budget:
Soundcard - U$ 200
DAC - don't know how much these cost, but I suppose U$ 200 as well

Which P6T?

Edit: Get one of the P6Ts with the Realtek HD ALC1200 onboard chipset, then go from there --> coaxial --> $400 DAC.

To be frank, I'm quite the noob myself so I picked up the cheaper one. But, do you know the precise of the P6T you are mentioning?

Edit:

I did my homework, these two seem to have the chipset you mentioned:

Newegg.com - ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Newegg.com - ASUS P6T SE LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Both have the Realtek ALC1200.

Thanks, by the way.

Several of them, so, find me a model/serial number or something similar, and I'll ID it. (Usually P6T *** or SE or Deluxe V2 or something.)

I edited my last post, but I'll reproduce the content for the sake of updating it:

Asus Essence ST is around your price range, it fits your music and gaming requests. However it is a sound card and it might not be as good as some of the DACs out there.
