Hi, and now for something slightly different.

i picked up a Sony DAT D8 this weekend, and have a problem getting sound out of the unit. The unit seems to record and playback fine, as the VU meters indicate something is going on in there, but no sound out of the headphone jack, with the output switch at any position.
Does anyone have any ideas or experience with these units? Maybe something easy like output caps gone bad? If so which ones are they? Any way to test the output circuit?

Any help would be appreciated,

thanks,

Stuart

I have a tcd-d7. looks exactly the same as the d8 just a slightly older model though. looks like its a problem that isnt very common. Ive had my d7s for around 10 years and ive never had that problem. If the sound didn't come out of the headphone jack it was only if the heads were very dirty, but you say that there is something going on with the meters so hmm, thats a tough one. Looks like you should have it checked by a technician. sorry
