Hi all,

The last few smartphones I owned produce background noise when the sound is low or when there is no sound within the music track.
I read some information about DAC's that are compatible with smartphones.

I currently own a Lenovo P2, use the Dunu Titan 5 and listen via Spotify on extreme quality.
I also like to use viper4android to EQ and forums say that viper should be compatible with a DAC.

Now my questions:
Will a DAC be compatible with my phone and will it work with spotify and viper4android?
Will a budget DAC remove the background noise and make a substantial difference in sound quality?

And lastly, if both answers are yes: What is a good DAC for a smartphone?

I found the Fiio K1 or Fiio Q1, maybe a dragonfly.

All the help is welcome!

Hi!

Do you have any news on that topic?

I just bought a P2 after my Nexus 6 died and I can't get my Fiio E07K to work over USB. I'm trying to find out, if it is a general impossibility with this phone or a defect in mine!

Do you happen to use a DAC on your P2 in the meantime?

Cheers,

MoWe

It's hard to say if a dac would eliminate background noise, or if that's from streaming music. I'd highly recommend trying lossless music from your phone storage before buying a dac which might not fix it. I'm 80% sure the noise is just a byproduct of streaming
