I've lurked this forum for years and gleaned much info/tips but would like some help 
 
I recently bought the Fiio E7 (from reading this forum) but am about to return it as the headphone jacks are beyond bad - they work partly in, 3/4 in, but, all the way in the sound goes to crap, which is a shame as they give a nice sound and was looking to pair it with an E9 for speaker output from my laptop
 
So I've come to the conclusion like most things in life it's worth spending that little bit more so am looking for a portable amp/dac that can work with my Iphone 4 + B&W P5 and my Macbook Pro 13" and Wharfedale 10.1 speakers
 
Or should I get a replacement E7 and pair it with the E9?

How does the sound change? I also have an e7 and it works fine for me. Sounds like you might have a defective unit.

Literally from perfect to inaudible/volume goes low and echoes. Problem is Amazon don't replace defective units you have to return then get a refund then re order?!

I have nothing but good things to say about mine. It seems you might have a defective unit. Does this happen on both of the headphone jacks on top?

Yes both, I've read a few other posts (on here and other forums) that the jack is loose - I unscrewed the back and the plastic casing for the headphone jack (it's square) isn't fixed to anything
 
I'll upload a video you can just touch the headphone cable and the sound drops out
