Hey all.

So I recently bought a pair of AKG K702s. I received them in the mail yesterday and listened to them for quite a while. So far I love them, however, I bought them used and the earpads smell like cigarettes, which I don't love so much. The smell is quite prominent, so I'm a bit timid to wear them for too long. What is the best way to go about eliminating this dastardly odor? Can the pads be washed? I removed them, and there's a piece of plastic attached on the backside, so I don't know how they would fair being machine washed in some way. I'd rather not replace them just yet as they're still in rather good condition, and the replacement pads seem a bit pricey.

Any tips?

If you want a "dry" solution a ziplock bag and baking soda might do the trick. The "wet" way would probably be vinegar and wash. The might not survive a washingmachine but surely some warm water from the sink wont kill them ? No promises though.

Regards
