One day i was playing around with plugging and unplugging my optical connections between my cd player and reciever.

I had both the cd player and receiver powered on at the time.

Ever since then, my remotes stoped working on my cd player. I changed batteries, tried two different remotes that have worked before. So i am 99% sure that the infrared receiver on the cd player has stopped working.

Is there any way to fix this myself? The local stereo shop wants to charge 100 dollars just to crack it open. The CD player is a 300 dollar sony ES disc changer.

Its not worth it to take it in, but its a pain to do things the old fashion way, and not have a scan either.

Any suggestions?

Why not email Sony in your country and see if they have any suggestions. Either switch off or change to another source before taking out cables. Jim.
