I'm using IEMs with my Switch's headphone jack, along with out of my Marantz receiver when playing PS4. I realize this is probably some sort of impedance issue that's giving me a hiss behind all sound vs. the totally silent background out of my DAP. I have several pairs of IEMs but the ones in question are the Audio Technica ATH LS200.

Would something like this solve my problems? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L1NP7Y...colid=16D1BXZ1CUIC&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I've heard this works well for Switch but what about with my receiver? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi this is not an issue with only switch or PS4, but even with desktops and smartphones. What IEM are u using?
I asked this question previously in the sound science forum: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/is-...y-more-influential-in-hiss-for-an-iem.915705/

And their reply is (in general) very high sensitivity in IEMs are the reason for hiss.
One solution is to use another IEM with lesser sensitivity.
Or if u want to stick to your current IEM, use an in line volume controller, an impedance mismatch device or an amp. The first 2 options may degrade audio quality a bit, but if you are gaming with it and not listening to audiophile music then I don't see an issue with it personally.

When I use them with my M0 DAP it’s totally silent when no music is playing, so it’s gotta be source related in these cases, right?

Yes the DAP probably has something that matches the impedance for your highly sensitive IEM, so u are right it is source related.

Most hiss in other devices disappears when the music is playing, so it ain't really noticable. But if u do really want to fix the hiss, the cheapest options would be to use a cheap lower sensitivity IEM or buy a 5 buck inline volume controller.
