Hi members,

I'm rather new to this forum so be nice :) I've been into 2 channel stereo now for many years. I own a Plinius amp, cd player and PMC speakers. This is set up in my loungeroom so I can't really do any room treatment. I've read many times that using headphones takes the hassle out of room problems.

So I'm looking at selling one of my power amps and getting a headphone setup. I live in Australia and my budget will be about $800 AUD. I like a warm, detailed sound that you can listen to for long periods without getting a headache (nothing bright). I also like a good soundstage. I'm wanting a headphone amp, good open headphones and maybe cheaper closed headphones for when the wife is beside me in bed.

Is this doable? What would you recommend for this budget?

Thanks
Blake.

Pairing with tubes and warm says hd650 to me, but I own a pair and am partial.

High impedance like senses or beyers . But not power hungry planars

Both those head phones pair well with the amp, but they have very different sound signatures based on what you have said about how you like your music to sound I would lean towards the 650
