my first pair of headphones or earphones were the IE7s. sounded great, but were lost.

i recently purchased a DT990 pro and momentums.

momentums are too small for me. and the DTs give me headaches.

usage would be music from phone, computer, macbook, and dj when needed. games mostly fps.

my budget is around 200. prob returning my dt and sennheisers soon.

i have no preference in open or closed.

suggest/ recommend with reasoning please !! much appreciated

K701 needs an amp more than the DT-990's (I had both the DT-990 Pro and the Q701), so I would not recommend the K701.

What about the DT-990 gives you a headache? If the clamping is too tight, try gently but firmly bending the headband outwards a bit. If it's the treble, try using some EQ and see what you think.

I think the Sony MA-900 would be OK without an amp, but I haven't heard it so I wouldn't know for sure. It's supposed to have a neutral/ big soundstage type sound similar to the K701, but it's more sensitive. Also, Phillips Fidelio X1 would be a good choice for no amp, but it's a little pricey.
