Hi All,
I am looking for a good portable player for my MS-1. I am stuck between iPod and Archos Gmini 402 http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/deta...mail,ECOSTCNET
I dont have the luxury of hearing the Archos but yes I have heard the iPod and its good none the less. The Archos on the other hand, has great features and is also cheap.

Please help me decided on this asap.

The 5g iPod and the 402 sound virtually the same. The 402 sounds slightly more upfront, but the difference is so small that it's almost not worth mentioning. The 5g has much higher output than the 402, but as long as you're listening at reasonable levels, I don't think volume is that big a deal. I like the 5g better as a music player because of the navigation, but the 402 is much better as a video player, albeit with a slightly smaller screen and pretty narrow viewing angles. The 402 may look ugly in pictures, but it actually looks very attractive in person. You'd probably get more responses if you posted this thread in the portables section.
