I've been looking in to getting a new DAC. So far I'm either leaning towards getting the Headroom Micro DAC or the Pico USB DAC. I'm really stuck in between these two DAC's, they are both suppose to be really good for the price and I just can't decide on either one of them. Any help on making a decision would be much appreciated. And I'm also open to any other suggestions in the sub $500 price range.

Thank you.

What kind of headphones are you using?

What kind of music do you listen to?

Some more info would be helpful

I have the Pico DAC and love it. It's detailed and yet has some warmth to it.

I listen to all kinds of music. Often variating between electronica, alternative and just regular rock.

The way you described the Pico DAC seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Do you have the stand alone USB DAC or the Pico portable DAC/AMP combo?

I'm currently using Little-Dot MKIII amp and Audio-Technica ATH-A900 headphones but I'm also looking to upgrade my headphones. Not really sure what I will upgrade to yet but I'm leaning towards either ATH-W1000X or Sennheiser HD800.
