Thank you for the reply. I am quite confuse after some reading from AKG website service manual. From what I read it supposed to be top left is ground and top right is left if you looking at the female connector (the connector holes are facing you). Please advise.

The mini XLR connectors has numbers on each pin either 1, 2, or 3. If you look at the manual it gives a drawing of the pinout.

Pin 1 = ground
Pin 2 = right
Pin 3 = left

I am not looking at the manual now so do confirm, but it does point out which driver is which so you can figure out left and right.

Good luck!

That was what confused me on the manual. It didn't specify if the diagram referred to the pins on the headphone itself (ie male end) or on the cable. Also from previous discussions on the forum, it appears that some manufacturers may be using a different pin numbering system for some reason.

Sorry for the major thread resurrection here, but I am considering building a K702 cable as my first DIY project. This thread gives me the pin assignments on the mini-XLR portion, but what about the TRS end? I know this is probably terribly obvious to those that have done it before, but any help is appreciated.

Also, any recommendation for some good, relatively inexpensive wire for this project? Since it's my first try, I don't want to go too crazy...

Thanks!

Just use a MM to find out.
I think the Mogami 2893 would fit the Switchcraft mini XLR just fine.

Thank you! Perfect...I'll get to work.
