Hello. I recently purchased the IE80 and my ears are very happy!!

the problem is the cable, however.

they feel very fragile and actually the cable part of the connector on the left ear exposes the bare wire.

not only that, though. the cable also seems to be suffering from what seems to be a common problem of the IE80s, where the right ear piece is a lot more quiet than the left ear piece due to cabling issue.

so I am currently looking for a replacement cable that is more durable and and will not break the bank (I am only a college student, after all).

P.S. I am also looking for tips that will provide better isolation than the stock ones. my ear canal opening is too big for anything to fit in properly.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

thank you!!

Try the Comply foam tips for the IE80. Be sure to check the model number for the one that fits for the IE80 on their website.

thank you, Dulalala

I really appreciate your hekp regarding the tips. but I think the cables take the priority now, since the left/right balance is way off to be corrected with the balance adjuster.

thank you

Mine have been back to Sennheiser twice under warranty due to a loose connection inside the plug. They are with them right now actually.  I don't know if they have QC issues or just a flawed design.

They are really good about fixing it so I really wouldn't worry about it until it breaks.

I found one on eBay but I haven't tried it myself.

thank you, gc335, but I find the stock cable to be very soft, which I personally don't like. I also need an in-line mic with volume controls. have you tried any personally, or have recommendations?

thank you again

Sennheiser sells a cable for it with a mic but I've never seen a IE80 aftermarket cable with a mic. I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I do see one.

Mine has the opposite problem with the left quieter than the right. But i found out that the cables was the only thing that was making this problem. I bought two other cables one from faaeal its a silver cable and the other one is a custom made cable for about $50 (stiks audio) but they are still currently making it so i dont have anything to offer as far as performance goes for the stiks. I do have the faaeal with me and i find that it makes the iems less bassy, less warm and better vocal performance but the sound stage is not as wide as it used to be with the stock cable. P.S. im using the third notch in the bass knob
