I've been out of the loop on headphones for a long time and need a new set of cans. Here is what I'm looking for:

1. Closed (will be used at work, so must be closed. I listen to a lot of stuff that is NSFW haha). I was looking at the senn hd 600/650, but I'm it's out of the question since it's open
2. Comfortable (as a guide, my DT770 is comfortable to me. not put for hours and forget about them comfortable, but comfortable enough)
3. Short+detachable cable. I can't wear my headphones around at all (DT770) because the cord is so dang long and I can't replace them because they're detachable. Preferably the cord is short enough so it reaches from my head to my pockets and that's it (if not, moddable so that I can make it so)
4. Probably won't be driven by an amp
5. Budget is anything less than 500
6. Prefer the look of my DT770 vs something like the ATH-W1000X where there's another arch going over the top

Thanks!

For on the go use without an amp, I recommend the NAD VISO HP50, PSB M4U 1, Focal Spirit Pro or Sony MDR 7520.  These are listed in order from warm to dead neutral (I call it a tie in that regard between the FS and Sony).  See:

The Sony comes with a longer cable, but it is replaceable with 1/8" male to 1/8" male cable or your choice.
