I'm wondering, what's the sensitiivity of your speakers? Ones with higher sensitivity are easier to pickup the noise floor.

Yep, it's not a ground loop.

Exactly as Orpheus said. It's definitely the unit's high noise floor.

Is the hissing louder than quiet passages in your music? Or only when you really crank the volume with no music playing?

Come to think of it, the hiss is somewhat less apparent when I drive my Kef Q5's with the Arcam. The Kefs have a sensitivity rating of 91db whereas the Infinity is 89db. I don't know what those numbers really say, but it could have something to do with it.

The hiss is mostly heard with no music playing and during quiet passages during the music. The hiss slightly increases in volume as I turn the volume knob up, but only a little. It is the worst when the volume is way down because then even during the music the hiss can be heard. But when it is louder in volume, most of the music can drown it out.
