You should just buy them from the sales forums here. You can get much better deals. Most headphones cost way too much new. I bought my DT770/80s from a guy here for $120 shipped and they were like new.

will investigate =)

One more thing, what is your source right now? Also are you using mp3s? Flacs? CDs?

How about amp? If you're using a laptop or PC, then get a DAC and hook it up to your amp, then use FLACs or 320kbps MP3. You'll get a big improvement.
The saying here is GIGO. Garbage In = Garbage Out.

Don't just keep buying more headphones, I suggest looking into a good DAC and AMP. The HD600 is already a very good headphone. Just focus on the upstream equipment.

BTW, monolith has given a good suggestion. I think I saw a DT 770/80 in the FS going for 130 or so just now IIANM.

If you want a new pair and live in the USA, then try ebay, amazon or guitar center:
Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80 Closed Studio Headphones and more Headphones at GuitarCenter.com.

I don't live in the USA, so I'm not too sure though.

I live in vancouver, BC, canada -- 2010 olympics coming here :/

i'm using a motu traveler

and have this amp -- it's apparently sufficient for headphones but not speakers

yeah i try to get all 320 VBR mp3s but from now on i'm going to rip into a lossless format -- probably FLAC.

jesus **** flac files are like 30 MB each -- guess it's time for a bigger harddrive... they sound so much better though

Most of the complaints I have heard is that the 701 is bassless. Unless you have a really good source you will not be happy with the bass of the AKG K701s/
