I'm trying to make a disc of depressive songs, but something with changing moods.
Basically it shuold start with songs about how screwed up the world is, and how depressing the rat race works etc. Then it should either move to something extra ordinary happening to a person like falling in love or some religious awakning. In any event it should highlight that one event can change a person's outlook on life. Finally it should end with happy songs which show the world isn't all that bad. Like the song I think i'll end the cd with is Steve Hackett - This World which includes lyrics like "never loose your smile" "never loose your head" "please don't take this world from me"
Currently I've only got a few of them
Gary Jule - Mad World <- an obvious start to the disc
Seatbelts - Is it Real <- Talking about the world getting to hard sometimes and simply locking yourself out. (from the cowboy bebop sountrack)
Steve Hackett - This World <- it's about growing up and being happy with life.
Other ones i'm considering:
Pink Floyd - Us and them <- i'm thinking this might actually be too upbeat for the disc. The disc should be slow.
Peter Gabriel - I Grieve <- strongly considering this song seeing how a death can be so dramatic that it can cause depression and/or cure it.
Songs must be slow and have good lyrics. The songs towards the end can be faster but must be euphoric in a way. So can anyone out there help?
