I've recently settled with the following rig:
CD -> Sony D131 -> GoVibe V3b -> Sennheiser HD595
It sounds ok and I am relatively pleased, but there is something not quite right. It somehow sounds incoherent. And when I turn up the volume on the GoVibe it quickly turns into mush and it becomes difficult to tell apart different sounds.
The GoVibe has a gain of 6 and is using 9V non-rechargable batteries (fresh). The D131 is powered using its stock wall-wart. I usually listen to 40% or less on the GoVibe.
Is my cheap CD player causing this "incoherence" (for lack of a better word to describe it)? The GoVibe mismatched with the headphones?
