HEARD SO FAR:
+ 1More Triple
+ RE400
+ VE Monk Plus
+ KZ ATE Copper
+ some other, similar stuff?

LIKED MOST:
#1 RE400 - Great comfort, least fatiguing(due to lower bass?), most accurate/neutral(?), weak bass.
#2 KZ ATE - Warmer/fairly bassy, recessed/dark sounding, too uncomfortable.

FEATURES / USES:
+ Comfort at least RE400 level.
+ Sound signature - Smooth, detailed(airy?), maybe some elevated bass/impact. (LCD-2/3, HE-6, Stax etc).
+ Music (electronic, rock, ambient, soundtracks...)
+ Gaming (good soundstage & imaging!).

CURRENT GEAR:
+ Modi MB
+ Vali 2 (PQ6922)

I don't recommend these:
Shure SE425-CL ($245)
Shure SE535 ($250+)

I recommend:
qdc Neptune
Thanks :) I'm envious of your D-50 and 007..!

Hi @CT007,

Also suggest the following in no particular order :

iBasso IT 01
iBasso IT 01s
Meze 12 Classics
Period Audio Be
Mackie MP 240 (also suggest looking at pro audio places for good deals)
Audio Technica E 70 (Worth extending your budget a little for, also suggest looking at pro audio places for good deals)

Hope you have a great day !

TIN Hifi T2 ($49)
SoundMAGIC E11C ($59)
SoundMAGIC E80C ($79)
RHA MA750 Gen 2 ($119)
ATH-IM70 ($191)
BGVP DM6 ($199)
Flares Pro ($225)
Sony EX800ST ($241)
FiiO FH5 ($259)
FLC8s ($299)
Sony XBA-N3AP ($299)
Moondrop Blessing ($399)

I own the EX800ST and tested the XBA N3 because I was considering them as an alternative/upgrade
EX800 is very comfortable although weird, best soundstage. It has a very solid bass with great quality but not overpowering and a sparkly, IMO sometimes approaching slightly sharp treble. Warmer, fuller signature, but not overly so, just not lean. Very coherent. It’s a kind of “grande” and elegantly powerful presentation, works great especially with orchestra. You can feel the energy.

XBA-N3 is supposed to be an upgrade, and certainly has the smoother highs, but when A/B-ing tthe two (personal EX800 vs shop N3) I found the EX800 to be more coherent.

Out of those 2 IMO the EX800 is better value and overall better, except you have to have that silky smooth BA treble.
In that case the XBA -Z5 is even better and can be found below $400

The only other headphones near its sound quality are much more expensive and there's only like 3 of them. The Voce ($3000), Shangri-la Jr. ($8000), and Shangri-la ($18000).
So you prefer 007 over 009? I have no Stax stores nearby, sadly, so I've only heard my L300 and L300LE so far :frowning2: And I reaaaaaaaally doubt my local shop is gonna have any of those 3 you listed xD They had HE-6 and Abyss 1266, at least.

Awesome! Thanks : ] The EX800 is pretty strange looking lol. I love the basic cylinder/RE400/etc shape best, so far

Yes. The SR007 mk2 can be modded such that is has better bass than the SR007 mk1 and SR009/SR009S.

This is actually one of the reasons why InnerFidelity bumped the SR009 off their Wall of Fame.

Check out the Moondrop Kanas Pro, actually the most balanced sound sig under $200 - follows Harman Target pretty closely
