Hi,

Currently I have an ety er6i with me, and Im looking for an upgrade,.,
The sound quality of my ety is good, even though the bass is too flat(not bad for my taste).,.the mids is very clear.,

I listen to pop, classic, and vocal clear songs.

Do you think se530 is a good upgrade for me?
and why??

Thank you for your attention

The SE530's will have more detail in the highs than the ER6i's but it will be presented in a lower volume. At first listen you might hate the 530's but give it some time to get used to it's sound and you will love it. You can EQ the treble and raise the volume to bring out the highs a bit more if you want though.

If you really like mids and don't mind the flat bass the SE530's would be a good option. The SE530's will have better mids and a bit more bass with probably similar isolation.

You should probably find a cheaper upgrade though like Phonak Audeo PFE's. They're a clear upgrade from the ER6i's with a similar SQ and better bass.

The PFE's are more in your face, while the SE530's will have better mids but an overall more laid back sound signature.

It depends how much money you want to spend. If you like vocals I doubt you could go wrong with the SE530's but there are cheaper options such as the PFE's and maybe Ety HF5's.

Honestly, after trying the SE530s for 1 week, I found the Westone 3s better in every way. The bass was much, much better, and mids/highs moderately better with a fuller soundstage.

If you don't believe me, please read Headphoneaddict's review (also a direct comparison to the SE530s) or Ray Samuels' review:

Westone 3

The highs don't roll off as they seem to with the SE530s and I bass has much more effect.

The Westone 3 is a sidegrade to the Shure SE530's. Many people believe this...
Also READ THIS REVIEW ON THE WESTONE 3

"For audiophiles, the choice between Westone’s, Shure’s, and UE’s highest-end in-canal earphones is pretty clear. If you’re looking for neutral triple-driver canalphones, Ultimate Ears’ Triple.fi 10 Pro offers that, at the lowest current entry price point of $400. Bass fans will find that the same dollars can buy the warmer Westone 3, which has physical size and a better array of eartips as advantages, or can consider upgrading to the custom-fit UE-11 Pro, which packs more low-end power but is frankly too expensive for what it offers. Our top pick in this category remains the Shure SE530, which sells for a little more than 3, but makes more judicious use of its three drivers, but Westone 3 is a strong alternative to that and the Triple.fi 10 Pro if you want a great combination of warmth, pricing, and comfort. We’d rate it above the Triple.Fi 10 Pro overall—despite the delays and its decidedly slanted sound signature, it is certainly one of the best premium canalphone options out there."

I like the 530's as much as anyone, and I do feel that the difference is minimal between the W3, but a lot of the ilounge reviews can be pitiful sometimes. Didn't this review also say 530's has the edge in the treble department? I can't agree with that. These same people also claim that K701 is great without an amp btw connected to the nano...

I agree, I have always been very leary of iLounge's reviews as not only are they poorly written, but the content is also very questionable.

Do you know what a laptop is? and how convenient it can be? You can take it anywhere and access the web. That is soooo cool.

LOL!! What kind of spin is that. Nothing, I repeat, nothing has more high detail than any Ety product.

Having said that I much prefer the SE530. Initially, coming from Etys, SE530 will sound very veiled but over several hours of listening I would think you will grow to enjoy them very much.

I dont think any of the top tier universals are good values. If you want to upgrade, either drop the dime for some customs (dont need to be UE11, sleek audio customs and livewires are both highly admired) that way you get better craftsmanship, materials, fit, isolation, longevity, and SQ for your buck. Rather than the slight SQ increase you get between universals. The Er6i or low enough that i can safely recommend and upgrade to something like the pfe, UE 5, UM2, turbine, and feel like it was worth the money.
It is my opinion that upgrading to the SE530 or Westone 3 will be much better than er6, but for 150 you could get almost as vast an improvement, and when you want a REAL upgrade (customs) you'll regret havin spent 3-400 on the intermediate step rather than 1-200

EDIT: FYI I have not heard the Westone 3 yet, but unless it is amazingly better my opinion stands
