I am getting some headphones for my birthday in october, and i want nice auidiphile headphones, because i had sennheiser pxc 350, and they were awful. I thought i wanted to get the sennheiser hd 600, but most people say they have underpowered bass. I was thinking about beyerdynamics, because they apparently have better bass, but i dont know anything about them. I also want a nice portable amp preferable under 150$. What headphones 300-400$ and what amp 150$ should i get. I dont know much about high end audio, but my dad does. Can you plz give me a good setup, that has high bass along with good highs and mids.

Hello,

How are you going to use the headphones? music/gaming? if you are a gamer, which kind of games you play? music genres?

I primarily listen to rap/hip hop, but i also listen to classical, rock, and everything in between. I might use it for listening to call of duty on my xbox 360, but i dont want to get a gaming headset, and i dont want to have a microphone attached to it like a gaming headset. And by the way, i have been looking around for a while, and i might be interested in the sennheiser Ie80. What are your opinions, regarding what i should get to satisfy my parameters.

hd600 are good, as all rounders, if you want something good for everything, with punchy bass get hifiman he-400 if you something for rap, hip-hop get v-moda crossfade lp 2 or audio technica m50, even sony mdr-xb500

cheers,

hd600 is more neutral, hd650 has better bass and an overall warmer sound signature, but is significantly more expensive too
